The resort:

Known as the ‘Beast of the East’ Killington is a large resort spanning 6 interlinking peaks providing all the skiing space you could need, making it seem like multiple ski areas in one. It also boasts the second biggest vertical drop in Eastern America and the largest in New England. With an average of 250 inches of natural snow each year, and it’s snowmaking system that covers 71% of trails it is often the longest running ski season in Eastern Northern America, perfect for a school trip that wants guaranteed ski action.

Skiing in Killington:

The range of runs stands out at Killington, which is no surprise given its size. From gentle runs and tree-lined trails to rapid mogul runs, skiers of all abilities will be at home here. For those with no experience, the Accelerated Learning Area can help push them on so that by the end of the trip beginners will be tackling harder red runs. Killington is also impressive from a freestyle and snowboarding perspective. It has one of the largest half pipes in the East on Bear Mountain, whilst also being home to The Stash an all-natural terrain park with over 50 features including an 18-foot wall for any budding snowboarders in your party to tackle. 40 miles of slopes are maintained every night to guarantee beautiful runs every day during your stay.

For Schools because:

The great terrain diversity for all abilities makes this a standout resort for school trips. Nearby its sister resort, Pico Mountain provides even more adventures to ensure that a trip to Killington is memorable. With 13 tree skiing areas at this altitude, the views whilst you come down the slopes are incredible, giving students the classic ski memories they’ve been dreaming of.

 Après ski:

The resort is well known for its packed schedule of bands playing and competitions to get involved in. Bike rentals, snowmobile tours, dogsledding, and scenic gondola rides add to the long list of adventures at Killington. The surrounding region has many restaurants and shops to enjoy, ensuring your time off the slopes is equally as enjoyable as on them.

Sample Itinerary

Day 1

Pick up from School, in an Executive coach and driven to the airport

Your dedicated 24/7 inspireski representative will meet you upon arrival at the airport to assist with check in and remain with you for the duration of the trip

Check into your flight from UK airport to Boston/New York
***
After collecting your bags and passing through customs, meet your coach driver for the transfer to the resort
***
Arrive in resort and check into your hotel
***
Delicious Evening Meal served in the hotel (depending on arrival time)
***
Welcome drink and meeting with Tour Representative to go through the itinerary

Day 2

Early morning rise and stock up at Breakfast with hot and cold buffet options in the hotel (American style pancakes!!)

Your rep will take you to the ski hire shop where we will commence the ski and boot fit session with careful attention being paid to everyone comfort and ski ability.

Head on over to the ski school meeting point for your ski school ability assessment and the first of the weeks lessons (instructor ratio usually 1:10 depending on group size)

Time for Lunch which is taken either back at the hotel on at the Mountain base lodge
***
Begin your afternoon ski lessons putting into practice what you’ve been shown that morning
***
Transfer back to hotel to freshen up and for some R&R after a hard day on the snow
***
Dinner time! Buffet or plated hot meal served in the hotel or local restaurant

A fun-filled bespoke apres ski programme will be put in place before you arrive in resort so that the children and staff alike. We will make sure the enjoyment continues off the slopes and help ease the burden on staff to find things for the students to do. All resorts/hotels have different offerings/activities so we’ll discuss the options at the planning stage and ensure we put together the most suitable programme for your group.

Day 3-5

Day 7

Breakfast in the hotel

Check out of the hotel and say our goodbyes!

Transfer by Coach to your City Stop Over destination (Boston/New York) – possibly via one of the many outlet shopping malls and make the most of the bargain only available across the pond!

Arrive into New York and check into your Manhattan hotel and take in the sights and sounds of this amazing city
***
Optional activities and excursions such as visit to the Empire state building, tour of central park, Statue of Liberty cruise etc.
***
Transfer to Hard Rock Café / Planet Hollywood in Times Square for your evening meal and enjoy some typically American cuisine

Transfer back to hotel

Day 8

Enjoy Breakfast in the hotel or local American café

Check out of the hotel and spend the rest of the day visiting the famous landmarks of this incredible city
***
Transfer to Boston/New York airport for your overnight flight home

Day 9

Arrive back in the UK in the morning

The Mountain Inn

This inn is within 800 yards of the Killington Ski Area. This hotel features an outdoor heated pool, stone fireplace in the lobby, and large-screen TV room. Mountain Inn rooms include a coffee maker and private bathrooms and are equipped with Wi-Fi and cable TV. The Killington Mountain Inn features a hot tub and sauna and guests at the inn can ride the ski shuttle or have a meal in the picnic area. The inn is 6 miles from the Pico Mountain, which features winter sports and horseback riding.
