The Largest Skiable Resort East of the Rockies

Spread across 8 interconnected mountain peaks, Sunday River is one of the largest resorts in Maine. It is located about 3 hours away from the city of Boston and is famed for having some of the most dependable snow on the East coast of America. The biggest peak – Jordon Bowl – has spectacular views of Mt Washington adding magnificent scenery to Sunday River’s extensive list of features.

Skiing in Sunday River:

The combination of double-necked diamond runs and easy routes down every peak makes Sunday River an ideal location for large mixed-ability groups that can help beginners advance and experienced skiers thrive. It boasts over 800 acres of skiable area, including South Ridge which helps beginners get used to downhill slopes and develop quickly. The resort is also great for snowboarders as it has 6 terrain parks and a superpipe. The introduction of a new wind-resistant 8-seater heated ski lift makes resort travel and accessibility extremely efficient.

For Schools because:

The brilliant split between beginner, intermediate, advanced, and expert slopes provides opportunities for anyone no matter what their experience on skis. Snowmaking equipment covers 95% of the mountain, with over 2,000 snow guns, which helps guarantee skiable slopes all season long. Accessibility is another of the resort’s strong points with doorstep skiing available. It is also located around 3 hours from Boston making travel easy and a city stopover possible.

Après Ski:

With snow tubing and dogsledding just some of the many activities available, the resort makes sure that time spent off the slope is full of adventure. There is also a choice of local restaurants along with the White Cap entertainment centre that has video games and music, where you can relax during the evenings. For those that enjoy shopping, there are a number of sports, fashion, and gifts shops located across the resort. The town of Bethel, which was recently voted North America’s number 1 ski town by USA Today, is only a few miles away. It offers a variety of restaurants from burger joints to dessert bars.
