Katschberg: Superb Austrian skiing
The Resort:
On the border of the Salzburg and Carinthia regions of Austria, this peaceful resort is situated amongst two mountains – Aineck and Tschaneck. Both provide reliable skiing, and the region is known for its high-quality, sunny slopes.
Skiing in:
With extremely well-groomed pistes and a great variety of slopes, Katschberg is an ideal location for a group trip. There are dedicated beginner slopes as well as excellent runs for intermediates with the potential for off-piste adventures. A further attraction is the 1154m vertical drop that is often unspoiled and quiet. All the slopes are extremely well groomed creating top-quality skiing throughout the whole season. The Snowpark has a number of features including a half pipe, pro jump, and slide for the boarders in your group. The region itself is extremely forested meaning lots of the runs are treelined providing magnificent surrounding scenery.
For Schools Because:
The resort boasts a 100% snowmaking capability as well as short waiting times for lifts. The ski school and ski rentals further show why this beautiful resort is a great choice for mixed-ability school trips. Additionally, the resort has easy access to the main motorway making transport to and from the resort easier. For a school ski trip full of Austrian charm with food, local markets, and quaint buildings Katschberg is a perfect choice.
Après ski:
The mountain huts that are dotted across the resort are a great way to have a break from the slopes and enjoy some of the traditional food that is served daily. At 2,222m the Adlerhost restaurant provides a spectacular setting for a meal at the end of a long day. There are plenty of peaceful hiking routes to be explored, whilst in the evenings the night skiing along the Konigswiese is a beautiful activity to take part in. Horse drawn sleigh rides, tobogganing, snowshoeing, and curling are yet more possible activities to ensure that evenings and time off the slopes can be relaxing and enjoyable.
