Sugarloaf School Ski Trips

Sugarloaf School Ski Trips
The Largest Skiable Resort East of the Rockies

The resort:

Affectionally called ‘The Loaf’, the resort is situated in the Carrabassett valley surrounded by Maine’s western mountains (on a clear day you can even see Mt Washington). Whilst taking in the stunning scenery skiers can challenge themselves on the slopes that are renowned for offering some of the most challenging runs in New England. The town itself is the only slope-side village in Eastern USA adding character to an already brilliant skiing resort.

Skiing in Sugarloaf:

The extended ski area in the Brackett Basin is perfect for intermediate and advanced skiers wanting to push their ability and test their limits on the sharp, steep black runs that the mountains offer. Across the resort, there are almost 1700 acres of skiing area, including a vertical drop of 2,820 feet and 54 miles of trails. A further reason why sugarloaf is so highly rated is that it has the only lift-serviced above treeline skiing in the East. On top of this, it boasts 95km of cross-country Nordic ski trails, making it a skier’s paradise.

For Schools Because:

The range of terrain means all levels of skiers can start at the summit of the mountain meaning all abilities can enjoy the descent. The combination of an average of 17 feet of snowfall every year and an efficient snowmaking system that covers 95% of the mountain means a school trip guarantees top-quality skiing for as long as you desire. Although the village is small, the dining and shopping options are impressive and create a safe and sheltered environment that fits school trips to a tee.

 Après Ski:

The other activities available at Sugarloaf are exceptional and include snowcat rides, snowshoeing, cinemas, bowling, ice skating, and even an Anti-Gravity complex. Snowmobiling is extremely popular in Maine with an extensive network of trials readily available. You may also have the chance to experience Sno-go ski bikes which are the equivalent of mountain bikes on skis which is a truly thrilling experience. Finally, for when a break from the snow is needed there are multiple designer outlets and a selection of restaurants serving classic American cuisine.
